This year moved artificial intelligence from experimental shorts to feature-length reality. From regulatory milestones to massive tech partnerships, here are the projects defining the landscape of AI filmmaking in 2025.

* Love You (Feature Film) A 95-minute romantic drama from India directed by Narasimha Murthy. It is billed as the world's first full-length film crafted entirely by AI, featuring no human actors or musicians. It made history by receiving a U/A certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification, the first AI-made film approved for theatrical release in India.

* The Woman With Red Hair (Feature Film) A historical thriller and the flagship project for Staircase, a studio dedicated to AI-generated movies. While it utilizes AI for original character designs and artwork, early viewer feedback suggests the technology still struggles with consistency compared to traditional filmmaking.

* Critterz (Animated Feature) A collaboration that signals Big Tech's entry into production. OpenAI is providing its proprietary tools and computing power to this feature-length animated movie currently in development, marking a shift from AI as a tool to AI companies as co-producers.

* KITSUNE (Short Film) Created by filmmaker Henry Daubrez entirely using Google's Veo 2 video generation tool. The short tells an emotional story of two lonely souls finding connection and was highlighted by Curious Refuge as one of the standout AI animated films of the year.
